Malaga's landmark is the Alcazaba Palace, built on a hill by the Moors in the 11th century. An archaeological museum provides information about archaeological finds from the region. At the foot of the palace, a Roman theater was discovered in 1951, which can be visited today. To give the palace better protection, the fortress Castillo de Gibralfaro was built in the 14th century, which is connected by a corridor to Alcazaba. Pablo Picasso is the most famous son of Malaga. His birthplace in the Plaza de la Merced can be visited.
